Information KAF Brief processes
- Microphone and meeting audio are processed while you record to create a transcript. The current recording engine does not retain the raw call audio; meeting listening is generated from the saved text.
- Transcripts, recaps, questions and Audio Overviews are stored in your KAF Brief library.
- Imported documents are processed to extract text and support reading, questions, summaries and Audio Overviews.
- Calendar information is accessed only when you grant permission, to show your schedule and associate a recording with a meeting.
- Settings, including playback speed, onboarding and permission state, are stored on the device.
Where processing happens
Speech transcription runs on the Apple device. On supported Apple Intelligence devices, generative features such as summaries, grounded questions and Audio Overviews also run on device. The public version 1.0 build does not send meeting or document content to a developer-operated AI backend.
Storage and iCloud
Your library is stored locally and can sync between your Apple devices through your own iCloud account. Apple processes iCloud data under your Apple settings and Apple’s terms. KAF World Apps does not receive your iCloud credentials.
Sharing, sale and tracking
KAF Brief does not sell personal information, use meeting or document content for advertising, or include third-party advertising and behavioural-tracking SDKs.
Permissions
KAF Brief requests only the permissions needed for features you choose: microphone, speech recognition, calendar, selected files and, on Mac, Screen & System Audio Recording. You can change these permissions in Apple System Settings.
Retention and deletion
Meeting and document records remain in your library until you remove them. Synced records may remain in iCloud according to Apple’s synchronisation, recovery and deletion behaviour.
Recording other people
The person starting a recording is responsible for telling participants and obtaining any consent required by law, employment policy or organisational rules. KAF Brief’s visible recording state does not replace that responsibility.
Security, children and changes
KAF Brief uses Apple platform security, app sandboxing and signed distribution. No software can guarantee absolute security. KAF Brief is not designed for children under 13 and should not be used to record children without the required permission.
If the app’s processing or collection practices materially change, this policy will be updated before the relevant release.
